Misc: Granaboard Rules & Regulations discussion [!OT]

The Granaboard is an underground community where each member knows each other fairly well, and we share some grade of friendship. I don't think of it as a site offering a service to people, but as a community built by friends.

Because of this, I think it'd be good if the future revisions of the rules (Granaboard Rules & Regulations), OUR rules, were publicly discussed. That's why I created this thread.

I encourage everyone to post his/her thoughts on the current code and suggestions or plans for the next revision (both contents and structure can be discussed, and both the message board and the website sections may be discussed). I'll consider all comments and suggestions seriously.

Note that this is not a democracy and I'll always have the final word. There is a basic set of rules (which include, for example, the no drugs rule) which may be discussed but won't be changed. Dragonrider will have an extra weight too as he's a mod. In spite of this, I want the GR&R to be OUR rules, not MY rules, because I want everybody to feel as good as possible in the board and in the other Granaboard services, so I'll take everything you want in consideration.

On the total hentai/porn thing, since some people don't like having it all over theplace, whenever any links are posted it should be ketp to Perverts Unlimited XD thread.

I always keep ideas for the next revision in a list. The ones I currently have are:

<ul type="square">[*]Rule 1.3.12 (no spoiler rule): Add that saying the name of the game, movie, etc. in the spoiler warning text is mandatory.[*]Add a rule against dangerous religious activities and publicity, effectively banning Jeohvah Witnesses and other sects related materials. Rule 1.3.13 (no spam rule) already helps against this but it's not enough.[*]Explicitly say rape is not acceptable and will be considered a serious violation if posted in the board, in rules 1.3.8 (no bizarre stuff rule), 2.2.9./A (adult contents allowed for fanfics and articles), and 3.2.7 (adult contents allowed in fanart).[/list]

IRT Xellos: Well, I hope allowing that kind of stuff won't turn the board into a pr0n links post.

I think it's necessary to make a explicit rule to say that adult contents posted should be marked (as with spoilers). I'll add it to the list.

As for restricting it to that thread only: I'd like to have as few "special threads" as possible, none if possible. How does everybody feel about this?

I also feel that less "special threads" is good. I mean, you can be random in other threads as much as you wish, but everyone is usually being pretty random in the Random Insanity thread. I think it should be likewise with the hentai stuff. Just mark it if you're posting where it isn't common practice. I doubt anyone will get irked unless it's one of those multi-pop-up sites or something. I don't feel the need for there to be excessive links either, if someone in specific asks you about it, Private Messaging is a much better and much more efficient system.

I think that, although people would like to have "special threads" in which some rules were... "disabled" (hentai and stuff), it would be against the rules of the server. I know that Wiseman would not mind, and that this server has a very fair hand when it comes to things like that, but i'd not "play" with that stuff. I'd keep the adult content as is right now.

Is just my opinion.

I would recommend that you change rule 1.3.5 a little bit. Take away the "Racism is not allowed" and put "Discrimination based on gender or race is a very severe violation that could lead to an instant banning."

Oh and i find rule 1.3.11 to be a bit pointless. Who's gonna come to the Granaboard and proclaim a load of Nazi propaganda?

Btw, if i were you, i would enforce a rule that requires all users to love any drink made by the Coca Cola company. Or Cheesecake.
